Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner Role

This role presents an opportunity to make a positive impact on families and children in need of support.

The Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner will work collaboratively with the community to provide information, support, counselling, and mediation to separating couples and families.

  • Provide expert guidance and negotiation services prioritising the best interests of children and young people.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake, risk, and needs assessments aligning with the Family Law Act 1975 and FDRP Regulations 2008.
  • Deliver high-quality child-focused mediation using relevant frameworks and best practice standards.
  • Ensure accurate records, case notes, and reporting meet organisational and legislative requirements.
  • Build and maintain positive networks across the community promoting services and collaboration.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, values-driven team environment focusing on excellence and integrity.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Law, Family Dispute Resolution or Mediation.
  • Accreditation as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (or eligibility to obtain registration).
  • Demonstrated experience in family dispute resolution and child-inclusive practices.
  • Strong communication, assessment, and case management skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional standards in line with legislation and FDR accreditation requirements.
  • A current driver's licence, Blue Card, and ability to obtain a Disability Worker Screening clearance.
