About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director to join our Indigo Delivery Branch, part of the Australian Electoral Commission's (AEC) Enterprise Transformation Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to support Directors and Program Managers in delivering the Indigo Program.
  • Ensure strategic outcomes are met and work packages are delivered effectively against scope, budget, time, and quality.
  • Deliver enabling projects and procurements, and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Manage high volumes of work and competing priorities, with the ability to deliver high-quality work to agreed standards and timeframes.
  • Communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and levels of seniority.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships, and use professional judgement to communicate decisions and manage stakeholder expectations.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience executing and managing programs and projects, including effective planning and scheduling, task management, resource management, and quality management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing program and project issues and risks, ensuring proactive controls which minimize disruptions to schedule, quality, and budget.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and levels of seniority.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships and use professional judgement to communicate decisions and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and implement pragmatic, fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or an industry-recognized certification in Management, Business Administration, Project Management, or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated work experience executing and managing programs and projects in the Federal government context.
  • Demonstrated work experience executing and managing Information Communication Technology programs/projects.
  • Experience in Agile ways of working, such as SCRUM or the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
