About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Home Affairs is seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Director to join our National Coordination Mechanism Branch. As an Assistant Director, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of crisis exercise and/or lessons projects and programs, leading a high-performing team, and developing your knowledge of Australia's crisis and emergency response architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of crisis exercise and/or lessons projects and programs
  • Lead a high-performing team and develop their skills and capabilities
  • Develop and implement effective exercise and/or lessons management strategies
  • Represent the department in national-level planning groups and engage with state, territory, and industry stakeholders
  • Support reporting and evaluation activities, and provide secretariat services for the National Crisis Exercising and Lessons Forum and National Crisis Exercise Steering Committee

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in crisis management, exercise design, and delivery, and/or lessons management
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
