We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Consultant to join our team in the NSW Government.

Job Summary

This is a permanent full-time position offering a competitive salary and benefits package. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and delivering emergency mental health consultations, assessments and support services across 32 hospitals in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD).

About the Role

The Mental Health Emergency Consultation and Support (MHECS) Clinician will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing expert clinical leadership and autonomy in managing complex mental health presentations. The role involves conducting emergency assessments in community settings with police and ambulance services, as well as working collaboratively with on-call consultant psychiatrists to develop plans for ongoing care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and deliver emergency mental health consultations, assessments and support services across MLHD.
  • Work collaboratively with on-call consultant psychiatrists to develop plans for ongoing care.
  • Conduct emergency assessments in community settings with police and ambulance services.
  • Provide expert clinical leadership and autonomy in managing complex mental health presentations.
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess:

Extensive specialist knowledge within mental health.Advanced reasoning skills and ability to operate autonomously with minimum direct clinical supervision.Ability to apply professional knowledge and judgement when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.Benefits
