We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic Pastoral Care professional to join our team in providing exceptional support to residents.

About the Role

As a Pastoral Carer, you will play a vital role in enhancing the emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing of residents. You will be responsible for providing care, comfort and connection within our community on a permanent part-time basis (25.5 hours per fortnight).

  • Familiarise yourself with our organisation's policies and procedures and work in accordance with those guidelines.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries as you will not be required to provide nursing or personal care to the residents.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of our facility and residents at all times.
  • Record your visits and submit monthly statistical returns to your manager.
About You

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

  • Previous experience working as a Pastoral Carer in an Aged Care setting is preferred.
  • A background in counselling, social work, pastoral care or church ministry.
  • Developed skills in empathy, sensitivity and patience when interacting with residents.
  • Respect for the right of residents to confidentiality and privacy.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to communicate effectively on all levels both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work harmoniously with people from a diverse range of social, economic, cultural and religious backgrounds.
  • Comfortable working in a distinctly Catholic ethos environment.
  • Flexibility to work increased hours, if required.
