Australian Unity partners with Beyond Blue to deliver a 24/7 omnichannel service for mental health support. Working from home, you'll provide phone and webchat support to individuals experiencing emotional distress, depression, and anxiety.

This is an entry-level role in the Mental Health field. We're seeking someone who cares about making a difference in people's lives and wants to help them feel less distressed.

About you:

  • You are a warm, empathic, kind, and patient individual.
  • You are self-motivated and tech-savvy with strong administration and time management skills.
  • You are resilient and can cope with high volumes of calls and chats discussing complex mental health symptoms and life circumstances.
  • You are open to working in a team to support one another and engage in continuous professional development.

We will provide you with relevant technology equipment to support your work-from-home setup. However, you will need:

  • A private room/space for your home office setup
  • A reliable/stable internet connection
  • Demonstrated IT skills and proficiency in telephony-based systems

As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will deliver front-line support to help individuals in our community who present with emotional distress, anxiety, and depression symptoms. You will be supported by an induction program that has been developed to scaffold, support, and safeguard BBSS Coaches in their first 12 months.

Our aim is to help you develop competence in building your mental health support skills and confidence over the year. You will be provided with relevant technology equipment to support your work-from-home setup.
