This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the access and engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community admissions into RMIT. As Senior Advisor, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that support the educational aspirations of indigenous students.

About the Role:

The Senior Advisor will report to the Manager, Indigenous Education and lead the entry and admissions processes within the university to promote equal access to education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You will work collaboratively with the Academic Registrars Group and other teams to develop and implement initiatives that enhance student experience and outcomes.

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, as well as an understanding of community needs, particularly the educational and personal support needs of indigenous students.
  • Experience advising and supporting students to pursue their educational aspirations and goals, with a proven understanding of the challenges faced by indigenous students.
  • Excellent administrative skills, including accurate record keeping and proficiency in ICT packages.
  • Project management expertise, with the ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Culturally sensitive communication skills, enabling you to manage sensitive matters professionally and build strong relationships with staff, students, and the community.

Salary Information: We offer a competitive salary of $106,000 p.a., plus 17% superannuation, reflecting the importance of this role in driving positive change. In addition to your remuneration package, you can also expect flexible working arrangements and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications and Experience: A degree and/or postgraduate degree in a relevant field, or extensive relevant experience working with indigenous communities, is essential.
