Job Summary:

RMIT University seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Advisor, Indigenous Access and Engagement to lead the university's efforts in promoting access and engagement with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the community's needs and a proven track record of advising and supporting students to pursue their educational aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the access and engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community admissions into RMIT University
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote access and engagement with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
  • Provide advice and support to students from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to help them achieve their educational goals
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the goals of the role
  • Manage sensitive matters in a professional and culturally sensitive manner
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an understanding of community needs
  • Experience advising and supporting students to pursue their educational aspirations
  • Excellent administrative skills and project management experience
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong understanding of professional boundaries and ability to manage sensitive matters
Qualifications:

Essential: A degree and/or postgraduate degree in a relevant field of education or extensive relevant experience with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in an educational or similar environment.

A current driver's licence is essential.
