Quality Assurance Lead Opportunity

Austal Defence, a global shipbuilder and defence prime contractor, is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Lead to join its team in Western Australia. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the delivery of high-quality vessels for the Australian Defence Force.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding engineering or non-destructive testing and experience in leading quality assurance teams in a similar industry. They will be responsible for developing and implementing weld capability processes, conducting audits, and overseeing subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with industry standards and project-specific requirements.

In this role, you will work closely with the Engineering team to develop and document welding standards, and ensure that subcontractor welding operations are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality. You will also be responsible for managing non-conformances, training QA team members on weld control procedures, and promoting continuous improvement across welding operations.
