Job Title: Welding Inspector

The role of the Welding Inspector is pivotal in ensuring top-notch quality and safety standards in welding activities on high-profile projects.

  • Create detailed work packages for maintenance and projects, including fabrication specifications and procedures.
  • Develop and implement inspection and test plans (ITPs), check sheets, and welding documentation, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Select and submit weld procedure specs to clients for approval, taking into account their requirements and industry standards.
  • Effectively resolve welding issues during project execution, collaborating with team members as needed.
  • Coordinate non-destructive testing, post-weld heat treatment, and industrial painting processes.
  • Maintain accurate contract-required quality documentation, ensuring seamless communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding welding services and provide expert advice where necessary.
  • Provide training and coaching to staff members on quality control and assurance practices, promoting a culture of excellence within the organization.
  • Implement and monitor the effectiveness of the Ventia Welding Management System, making adjustments as required.
  • Conduct rigorous welder qualification tests to ensure that personnel meet the highest standards.
  • Offer guidance on fabrication methods and materials selection, adhering to client specifications and industry standards.
  • PARTICIPATE IN SAFETY AUDITS AND INSPECTIONS TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH SHEQ REGULATIONS.

Key Experiences & Skills:

  • Relevant Mechanical Trade or tertiary qualifications, Cert III or higher, with expertise in Welding Supervision and Leadership.
  • Weld Australia International Institute Welding Inspector - Basic Qualifications or similar, demonstrating a strong foundation in welding principles and practices.
  • Weld Australia Welding Supervisor AS1796 Certificate 10 or higher, showcasing advanced knowledge and skills in welding supervision.
  • Experience working with Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminium materials, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a Welding Supervisory or Leadership role.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, with excellent management and organisational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Highly motivated, with good written, problem-solving, and communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.
