Job Opportunity

Austal Australia is seeking a Quality Assurance Lead to support the development of its welding capability.

This role requires delivering the Welding Capability Management plan, ensuring suppliers meet contracted quality standards across current and future builds.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in welding techniques, materials, and equipment, as well as industry standards and codes.

The successful candidate will work closely with the engineering team to develop, document, and implement weld capability processes. They will also oversee subcontractor welding operations, ensuring they are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality.

  • Conduct audits
  • Manage non-conformances
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with welding procedures

Key qualifications include a diploma or higher qualification in Welding Engineering, Non-Destructive Testing, or a related field, as well as minimum 5+ years' experience in a lead role in a welding operation.
