About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Management Specialist to join our team at the Department Of Industry, Science And Resources. As a key member of our Risk and Integrity Culture Section, you will play a critical role in building a positive risk and integrity culture across the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Climate Risk and Opportunity Management Program (CROMP) to effectively prioritize tasks and deliver climate risk analysis and briefing material in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate an ability to negotiate persuasively and facilitate/lead climate risk conversations with stakeholders to meet strategic business objectives.
  • Drive the implementation and increasing maturity of the CROMP, including embedding climate risk within established Enterprise Risk reporting, completing entity-wide climate risk assessments, coordinating CROMP and APS Net Zero disclosure requirements, and building climate risk capability in the department.
  • Support the organization with day-to-day risk management queries and processes.
  • Develop and implement departmental risk resources, training, and planning tools, and contribute to the uplift of risk culture in the department.
  • Undertake training in the Climate Risk field.
Requirements
  • An experienced risk practitioner with proven technical expertise.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Confident presenting information to small and large groups.
  • High-level stakeholder engagement skills and ability to liaise with people at different levels.
  • Sound judgment and a strong research, analysis, and problem-solving background.
  • Organized and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to see projects through to completion.
  • A strategic thinker and able to think pragmatically to achieve objectives.
  • Customer-focused and able to compromise.
  • Able to manage continuous improvement processes.
  • Adaptable and able to manage change.
  • Experienced in managing staff (not essential, but preferred).
  • Knowledge of climate risk management in a government context or transferrable skills (desired, not essential).

Eligibility
  • To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
  • Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
