Bars Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Bars Manager to lead our daily shift operations and supervise staff in the bar and lounge.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for enforcing all legal obligations professionally and consistently, determining training needs to accomplish goals, and implementing plans to strengthen the food and beverage/culinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implementing agreed-upon beverage policies and procedures throughout the property.
• Managing liquor control, including days on hand, perpetual inventory, bar pars, portion control, costs controls, beverage potentials, mix of sales analysis for beverage, issue & returns, food standards, and period-end inventory.
• Attending pre- and post-convention meetings as needed to understand group needs.
• Comprehending budgets, operating statements, and payroll progress reports to assist in financial management.
• Participating in the management of departmental controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
• Ensuring compliance with all bar/lounge policies, standards, and procedures.
• Maintaining food handling and sanitation standards.
• Managing inventories according to budget and business levels.
• Assisting with developing menus and promotions as necessary.

The successful candidate will also lead the bar/lounge team by:
• Training staff on liquor control policies and procedures.
• Supervising staffing levels to ensure guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met.
• Ensuring employees understand expectations and parameters.
• Communicating critical information to the bar/lounge staff regarding each event.

Requirements:

We are looking for candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent, with 3 years of experience in a leadership role in the food and beverage industry, or a 2-year degree in a related field with 2 years of experience. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with staff and guests.
