Job Overview

The position of Sterilising Department Technician involves the handling, decontamination, packaging, sterilisation and dispatch of Reusable Medical Devices (RMD's). The successful candidate will be responsible for working within a multidisciplinary environment promoting health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

The technician will be responsible for:

  • Decontaminating and sterilising equipment and supplies
  • Packaging and dispatching RMD's to various departments and external customers
  • Initiating appropriate action and following protocols for decontamination and sterilisation of equipment

Working in a team environment

The LGH Sterilising Department team is comprised of a Nurse Unit Manager, Registered Nurses, System's Administrative Officers, Loan Set Coordinators and multiple Sterilising Technicians. They promote the CARE values of the Department of Health.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of and experience in sterilising technology or relevant qualifications
  • Ability to obtain a thorough knowledge of instruments/equipment and supplies processed in SD
  • Knowledge of infection control principles applicable to the sterilisation department processes and procedures
