The position of Sterilising Department Technician involves the handling, decontamination, packaging, sterilisation and dispatch of Reusable Medical Devices (RMD's). The successful candidate will be responsible for working within a multidisciplinary environment promoting health and wellbeing.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe technician will be responsible for:
- Decontaminating and sterilising equipment and supplies
- Packaging and dispatching RMD's to various departments and external customers
- Initiating appropriate action and following protocols for decontamination and sterilisation of equipment
Working in a team environment
The LGH Sterilising Department team is comprised of a Nurse Unit Manager, Registered Nurses, System's Administrative Officers, Loan Set Coordinators and multiple Sterilising Technicians. They promote the CARE values of the Department of Health.
RequirementsThe ideal candidate will have:
- Knowledge of and experience in sterilising technology or relevant qualifications
- Ability to obtain a thorough knowledge of instruments/equipment and supplies processed in SD
- Knowledge of infection control principles applicable to the sterilisation department processes and procedures
The position offers:

Candidates should note that a qualification in or willingness to undertake a Sterilising Technology course is desirable.
