Maintenance Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role will involve supporting the effective and efficient operation of plant equipment & machinery.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment, machinery & facilities in accordance with established schedules.
  • Respond promptly to equipment & machinery breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal productivity.
  • Carry out repair, replacement & refurbishment of various parts, components & systems.
  • Support the installation, relocation & modification of equipment & machinery as required.
  • Awareness of opportunities for continuous improvement through maintenance activity and communicate potential improvements.
  • Ensure accurate records of maintenance activity including reports, work orders & inventory management.
  • Comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards in all maintenance activities.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in all work areas.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize operational disruption.
Required Skills and Qualifications

This role requires:

  • A clear working knowledge of differing equipment, machinery & systems including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic & hydraulic.
  • The ability to identify & resolve maintenance issues.
  • An understanding of safety regulations and ability to perform risk assessments.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with various team members.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Applicants must possess:

  • A relevant vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ, ONC, C&G) with an appropriate apprenticeship.
  • Minimum 1 year's experience post-apprenticeship within a maintenance environment.
  • Candidates without qualifications but who can demonstrate relevant industrial knowledge and experience will be considered.

Other Requirements

  • The ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

Salary: £50,000 including shift allowance. Continental working hours, including shifts: 4 days on, 4 off, 4 days on, 4 off (6am-6pm); 4 nights on, 4 off, 4 nights on, 4 off (6pm-6am).
