Senior Manager, Operational Risk Advisory

Position Overview:
We are collaborating with a prestigious banking organization in Australia. This significant position has opened up within Line 2, aimed at delivering expert risk guidance to all divisions within the Consumer / Retail Banking sector and its distribution channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Act as a pivotal Senior Manager in executing risk analytics, strategic consulting, and business collaboration with the leaders of the Consumer Bank (Line 1).
  2. Develop comprehensive risk profiles for assigned business units, aiding in the formulation of risk strategies at both the Business and Group levels.
  3. Perform in-depth and thematic assessments of issues, evaluating inherent and residual risks along with their implications in the current regulatory environment.
  4. Contribute to the 2nd Line Operational Risk in Projects, initiatives, strategies, and cost-effective integration into Business as Usual (BAU).
  5. Serve as a trusted advisor to enhance risk culture, providing insights on significant risks, controls, metrics, and trends, and act as a proactive thinker for ongoing improvement and efficiency in risk management processes.
  6. Document findings for management and committee reporting, and actively participate in risk forums and committee meetings.
  7. Assume the responsibilities of the Executive Manager in their absence.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Operational Risk and/or Compliance within Banking & Financial Services (Line 1 or 2).
  2. Demonstrated experience in risk advisory and collaboration with business units to continuously enhance value.
  3. Exceptional ability to articulate operational risk matters to influence senior stakeholders.
  4. Basic understanding of the regulatory and prudential framework applicable to Retail Banking (APRA, NCCP Responsible Lending, Privacy Act, AUSTRAC, etc.).
  5. Proficient in managing workload and driving processes, particularly in a matrix working/reporting environment.
  6. Knowledge of consumer banking products (Mortgages, Cards, Secured and Unsecured Lending, Deposits, etc.) is advantageous but not mandatory.
