
Aboriginal Community Support Specialist

The role of Jurisdictional Coordinating Officer is critical in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the ACT and surrounding areas.
Key responsibilities include undertaking jurisdictional service mapping, providing support to available Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led suicide prevention services in the region, and developing relationships with key stakeholders including community-controlled and mainstream services, as well as government departments.
Successful applicants will have a strong commitment to delivering jurisdictional support and must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relevant policies, strategies, mental health, suicide prevention, and social and emotional wellbeing services for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide jurisdictional support to coordinators of community-controlled suicide prevention networks
- Develop community-controlled suicide prevention planning and workforce capacity building
- Undertake necessary monitoring and reporting activities in line with contract
Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant policies and strategies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
