Community Development Specialist

To make a lasting impact on the community, we seek an experienced Community Development Specialist.

  • This role will play a critical part in developing and implementing culturally safe services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

About the Position:

  • Develop and maintain our cultural responsiveness to meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Ensure that all work aligns with the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities while upholding anti-discrimination principles.
  • Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples communities and stakeholders through meetings and workshops to support the successful development and implementation of projects and policies.

Requirements:

  • You will have experience in providing culturally safe services for Aboriginal children and families within child protection, family support, and community service.
  • A proven ability to guide and develop teams in risk assessment and client-centred practice within foster care and family support services.
  • Experience in engaging and collaborating with Aboriginal services, community leaders, and government bodies.
  • A solid understanding of Self-Determination and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principles.
