We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Parliamentary Security Service (PSS) Officer at the Australian Parliament House in Canberra. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safety and security of the Parliament and its occupants.

About the Role

The PSS Officer will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring the security of the building and its occupants, and responding to emergency situations. The successful candidate will have strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires individuals with a strong sense of duty and responsibility. As a PSS Officer, you will be part of a close-knit team that works together to maintain the highest standards of security and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing front-line security services, including mobile patrols, screening, and response to incidents;
  • Communicating effectively with visitors, staff, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and provide information;
  • Working collaboratively with other departments to ensure seamless operations;
  • Recording and reporting security incidents and providing timely updates to management;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You will also need to demonstrate a strong sense of integrity and a commitment to upholding the values of the Australian Parliament.

You will be required to undergo comprehensive training, including operational safety and first aid certification. Additionally, you will need to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance and complete regular fitness tests.
