Traffic Planning Engineer

This role entails contributing to the development and implementation of a safe and efficient traffic system within a Local Government Area (LGA).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough impact assessments of traffic-generating developments and land use rezoning proposals.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and recommendations regarding strategic traffic, transport, and road safety matters.
  • Analyze and optimize public transportation systems in the LGA.
  • Provide expert advice on traffic and road safety issues, including investigation, analysis, solution formulation, and report preparation.
  • Support the administration of the Local Traffic Committee, including report preparation and attendance at meetings.
  • Represent the council in the NSW Land & Environment Court and community forums regarding traffic, transport, and road safety concerns.
  • Obtain necessary approvals for traffic management permits, road closures, and advertising, ensuring compliance with the NSW Local Government and Roads Acts.
  • Plan, manage, coordinate, and execute traffic and transport projects within budget constraints and agreed time frames.
  • Maintain effective liaison and communication with external organizations and stakeholders, including Transport for NSW and the Department of Planning & Environment.
  • Evaluate and optimize the responsible use of the council's traffic/transport resources.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with traffic management software and systems.
