Family and Injured Workers Advisory Committee Leader

Job Summary
The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Co-Chair of the Family and Injured Workers Advisory Committee. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of policies and guidelines that support workers affected by serious workplace incidents.
About the Role
The Co-Chair will work collaboratively with a Co-Chair (lived experience) to provide leadership for the Committee. Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating Informed Discussions
Lead informed, inclusive, constructive, and respectful discussions between Committee members to ensure effective decision-making.
Setting Meeting AgendasDevelop and implement meeting agendas, settle papers, and create a work plan to guide the Committee's activities.
Ensuring Governance and Legal ObligationsProvide leadership in ensuring the Committee's governance and legal obligations are met, including liaison with the secretariat on relevant matters.
Identifying System-Level IssuesUse expertise to identify system-level issues impacting affected persons and propose reforms to address these issues.
Representing the CommitteeRepresent the Committee in discussions with the Commonwealth, regulators, or other parties to advance the Committee's objectives.
Establishing a Safe Working EnvironmentContribute to creating an open, supportive, inclusive, and safe working environment for Committee members.
Managing Risks of Re-TraumatisationManage the risks of re-traumatisation and vicarious trauma for lived-experience members arising from the Committee's work.
Eligibility Criteria
To be successful in this role, applicants must demonstrate:
- Experience in Trauma and Trauma-Informed Practice
Demonstrated experience in trauma and trauma-informed practice, including grief and loss counselling.
Leadership and Governance ExperienceDemonstrated experience in government, leadership, or other Committee or advocacy settings.
Interpersonal and Communication SkillsDemonstrated highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, consultation, negotiation, decision-making, and advocacy skills.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, counselling, trauma, or a related field and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership will be highly regarded. Experience in working with individuals and families from indigenous and/or diverse cultural backgrounds is also desirable.
