About the Livestock Career Development Program

The Livestock Career Development program is designed to equip top talent with valuable experience in all aspects of the livestock industry.

During the 24-month program, participants will be involved in four leadership and skill-building workshops, receive on-the-ground training, and have mentors assigned to provide ongoing support. Participants will also have the opportunity to work in both saleyard and branch environments, being mentored and guided by experienced livestock employees and leaders, learning effective selling and relationship-building techniques.

Key Components of the Program
  • Accelerated learning opportunities to kick-start your career within livestock
  • Professional networking opportunities to socialize with peers and leaders across the business
  • Placement mobility once the 24-month program concludes
  • Business skills – compliance, sales, and client relationship building, communication, marketing, and social media, understanding finance, problem-solving, and negotiation, and leading and managing a team
  • Livestock skills – next-generation stock and station agency skills, livestock productivity, animal health and nutrition, Auctions Plus, auctioneering, wool technical and market requirements, and emerging technology
Requirements
  • A strong desire to learn and succeed in the livestock industry
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong negotiation abilities
  • Successful completion of Year 12
  • Worked successfully for a minimum of 24 months within the agricultural industry, ideally within livestock
  • Willingness to relocate at the conclusion or throughout the program
  • Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or Australian permanent residency
  • Vaccination against Q Fever or willingness to receive the vaccination
  • The ability to work in a team environment
  • Genuine interest and desire to work and learn about the livestock industry
Program Timeline

Successful applicants will be offered a position in November to commence the role in February 2026
