Rural and Remote Education Leadership Opportunities

The Department of Education seeks experienced educators who are committed to teaching and leading in rural and remote schools as Teaching Principals.

Applicants must have a strong sense of community and demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and curriculum leadership skills. Key responsibilities include:

  • Seeking opportunities for leadership growth in rural and remote locations
  • Participating in online and residential components of the program
  • Ongoing professional development within a learning community
  • Developing their own capability as a high-performing leader

Candidates will be supported in various costs associated with the program, including travel, accommodation, and professional development activities.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be current Queensland Government employees and possess full registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. A strong interest in pursuing rural and remote leadership opportunities is highly desirable.

Selective Criteria

The following selective criteria apply:

  • Demonstrated leadership of a teaching and learning environment
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and capacity to develop and sustain productive relationships
