
Eoi - Take The Lead - Aspiring Small School

This program is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions will not exceed 12 months. Applicants must be a Permanent Department of Education employee.
The Take the Lead - Aspiring Small School Principals program is for experienced, high performing educators who are committed to teaching and leading in rural and remote schools as Teaching Principals. Applicants must have a strong sense of community and demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and curriculum leadership skills.Applicants commit to:
- seeking leadership opportunities in rural and remote locations in Far North Queensland, North Queensland, Central Queensland and Darling Downs South West Regions
- attending the online and residential components of the program in full
- ongoing development within a professional learning community by participating in masterclasses
- developing their own capability as a high performing leader
- developing an inquiry approach of improvement to contextualise learning.
The Department of Education will fund the following costs associated with the program for successful applicants:
- travel for those greater than 100km from venue (flights and kilometric allowance only)
- accommodation
- catering while at the residential program
- professional development activities
- Any additional program costs are the responsibility of the participant's school or centre.
Eligibility
Applicants must demonstrate currency and be experienced permanent teachers or school leaders with the Queensland Department of Education. All applicants must possess full registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. Applicants from a range of teaching, leadership, experience and qualification backgrounds are encouraged to apply. A strong interest in pursuing rural and remote leadership opportunities is highly desirable.

- A resume (maximum 2 pages)
- A cover letter (maximum 1 page) outlining your career aspirations for the next 1-2 years and your capability, willingness and commitment to working in a rural or remote state school, including a timeframe for moving to a rural or remote community if not already there. The cover letter also represents an opportunity to introduce yourself, outline why you are interested in Take the Lead and share what makes you an ideal applicant for this program.

- Demonstrated leadership of a curriculum, teaching and learning environment, leading to the achievement of quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to develop and sustain productive relationships within and beyond the school community.
- the Take the Lead Referee Report (see attached document below) signed by your current supervisor and endorsed by your principal. If you are currently acting or in a principal role, the Referee Report must be completed by your Assistant Regional Director (ARD). Only principals should seek a Referee Report from an ARD. The signed Referee Report will need to be scanned so that it can be submitted electronically if digital signatures are not possible. Please only use the attached Take the Lead template.
