Data Center Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operations Specialist to join our team at Equinix. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in maintaining our data center facilities and delivering exceptional service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Network Device Installation and Configuration: Install and configure network devices, including routers, servers, switches, and firewalls from various manufacturers such as Cisco, Juniper, F5, Supermicro, HP, Microsoft, and Oracle.
- Software Updates and Security Patches: Install software updates and security patches for customer equipment to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Cable Installation and Patching: Install cross-connects, Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP), and Fiber, and patch cables to ensure seamless network connectivity.
- Remote Technical Support: Provide remote technical support via phone, email, and web applications such as Cisco WebEx and TeamViewer for emergency network outages and troubleshooting of network equipment, switches, and servers.
- Network Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor network activities, including alert reports, error reports, and network performance statistics, and report to ensure uptime and efficient resolution of issues.
- Network Optimization and Recommendations: Assess and recommend customers on better ways to improve network operations and integrated hardware/software.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Prepare and maintain documentation of customer network inventory, troubleshooting procedures, and resolution to issues.
- Work Operations and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work operations, events, and logs to produce concise reports to company management.
- Equipment Upgrades and Maintenance: Upgrade network equipment, including fans, Dual In-Line Memory Module (DIMM), motherboard, Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP), Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) controller, blade servers, and hard drives.
- Data Backup and Security: Perform tape backup to protect important customer information and ensure data security.
- Fiber Network Testing and Certification: Perform layer three ping and traffic testing using JDS Uniphase (JDSU) and Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) to locate faults on fiber networks.
- Cable Certification: Use advanced Fluke Network testers to certify Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) and fiber cables.
