Scientist (Grade One) - Microbiology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microbiologist to join our team at The Alfred. As a Microbiologist (Grade One), you will be responsible for performing microbiology testing according to documented laboratory protocols within acceptable time frames.
Key Responsibilities- Perform all routine laboratory tests without supervision (after a suitable training period).
- Participate in internal and external quality control programs.
- Collaborate with senior staff in method development.
- Be familiar with the use, care, and maintenance of laboratory equipment used for routine procedures.
- BSc or BAppSc with a major in Microbiology - evidence of assessment by the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists (or equivalent) is required for overseas qualifications.
- Experience in the performance of diagnostic Microbiology testing, including specimen set-up, culture reading, and interpretation.
- Good attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to function well in a team environment.
- Ability to organise own work to ensure time frames are met.
