Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microbiologist (Grade 1) to join our team at Alfred Health. As a key member of our Microbiology Department, you will be responsible for performing microbiology testing, including specimen set-up, culture reading, and interpretation. Your expertise will play a critical role in supporting our trauma and emergency services, organ transplantation, HIV-related diagnostic services, and bone marrow transplantation services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform microbiology testing according to documented laboratory protocols within acceptable time frames.
- Work collaboratively with our team to ensure seamless delivery of services.
- Participate in day, evening shift, and public holiday rosters.
- Develop and maintain expertise in microbiology testing, including specimen set-up, culture reading, and interpretation.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory protocols and procedures.
Requirements
- BSc or BAppSc with a major in Microbiology (or equivalent).
- Experience in the performance of diagnostic microbiology testing, including specimen set-up, culture reading, and interpretation.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- Ability to function well in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to organize own work to ensure time frames are met.
