A dynamic and rewarding opportunity is available for a lawyer to join our team of experienced professionals. We are seeking a skilled solicitor with expertise in medical law, particularly in areas such as medical negligence, professional conduct litigation, and medico-legal advice.

">Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality legal advice and services to Avant's members and claims managers, focusing on medical defence matters.
  • Provide general medico-legal advice to Avant's members and Claims Managers.
  • Represent medical practitioners in various forums, including the Medical Board of Australia, VCAT, Coroners Court, Medicare, and HCC.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary legal qualifications.
  • Eligibility to hold an unsupervised practising certificate as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia.
  • Post-admission experience in private practice, preferably 2-4 years PQE, with expertise in medical negligence and professional conduct related litigation.
  • Previous experience in conducting all phases of litigation and/or professional conduct cases.
  • Advantageous to have prior experience in employment law.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of prioritisation, time management, and self-management skills.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
  • Good computer literacy and competency to work in an electronic document management environment.
