Job Title: Medical Defence Lawyer
Medical Defence LawyerThis is a 12-month, fixed-term opportunity to provide parental leave cover and develop your career working for a leading specialist medical defence law firm.
The key responsibilities include:
- Delivering high-quality legal advice and services in respect of a broad range of medical defence matters.
- Providing general medico-legal advice to clients and managing claims.
- Apart from the Medical Board of Australia, VCAT, Coroners Court, Medicare and HCC.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary legal qualifications and an eligible practising certificate.
- Demonstrated post-admission experience in private practice (ideally 2-4 PQE) in medical negligence and professional conduct litigation.
- Previous experience in conducting all phases of litigation and/or professional conduct cases.
- Previous experience in employment law is an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of prioritisation, time management and self-management skills.
- Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
- Good computer literacy and competency to work in an electronic document management environment.
