Job Description:

The Careers Practitioner role is a pivotal position within our educational institution, aimed at supporting students in their transition from school to further education, training, and employment. This role is designed to provide individualized assistance to students, helping them navigate the complex process of career development.

Key responsibilities of this role include providing guidance on subject selection, post-secondary pathways, and career goals. The Careers Practitioner will work closely with students to develop Individual Career Action Plans (CAPs), which will serve as a roadmap for their future endeavors. Additionally, they will support Year 12 students by meeting with them individually twice a year to discuss their career plans and post-secondary applications.

Assisting students with the VTAC process, including submitting preferences, Change of Preference, and accepting offers, is another critical aspect of this role. The Careers Practitioner will also provide advice on direct-entry TAFE and private provider applications, ensuring that students are well-informed and prepared for their future careers.

In addition to these key responsibilities, the Careers Practitioner will participate in the Morrisby Program and assist in the delivery for all Year 9 students. They will also support work experience and Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) placements, ensuring that documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.

Furthermore, the Careers Practitioner will be responsible for providing case management to students identified as at risk. They will attend SSG meetings to support these students and liaise with external agencies to ensure that they receive the necessary career and pathway support.

Key skills and qualifications required for this role include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively with students and staff, and a strong understanding of career development principles and practices. Proficiency in using relevant software and systems is also essential.
