Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Executive Governance Professional to join our team on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-level administrative support across council and committees, including concept forums and related processes.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Attend council, committee and other meetings to provide strategic support and coordination.
- Update and maintain council registers including meeting summaries, gift registers, attendance lists, financial interest register, primary and annual returns and councillor training records.
- Manage public question and address requests effectively.
- Monitor correspondence for elected members, prioritising matters that require immediate attention.
- Develop and maintain systems and business processes for high-quality administrative support.
- Provide expert advice to elected members and staff on relevant legislation.
- Assist with the conduct of local government elections.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 5 years of experience working in a local government governance role or equivalent administrative experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
- Knowledge and experience interpreting the Local Government Act 1995 regulations, standards and governance practices.
- Proficient Microsoft Suite user.
- National Police Certificate.
Council Meeting Schedule
- Committee Meeting: Every Monday at 5:30 pm for approximately 1.5 hours.
- Council Meeting Agenda Forums: Second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm for approximately 2 hours.
- Council Meeting: Fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 pm for approximately 3.5-4 hours.
