PhD Researcher: Bush Stone-Curlew Conservation

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD candidate to join our team in the Coexistence Conservation Lab at the Australian National University. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct research on the reintroduction of bush stone-curlews to Phillip Island and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct fieldwork and research on bush stone-curlew conservation and reintroduction
- Collaborate with a team of ecologists and scientists on a major conservation project
- Develop and implement GPS telemetry and spatial analysis techniques
- Engage with stakeholders, including park rangers and Traditional Custodians
- Strong interest in conservation and translocation science
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
The successful candidate will be based at the Fenner School of Environment and Society at the Australian National University in Canberra, with regular fieldwork opportunities on Phillip Island and other locations. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major conservation initiative and develop skills in conservation fieldwork, GPS telemetry, and spatial analysis.
