Disengaged Youth Program Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Team Leader to oversee a dynamic learning program in Mount Isa, designed to re-engage young people aged 10-16 who have been involved in the youth justice system and are disengaged from mainstream schooling.

The Role
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed services.
  • Ensure program outcomes meet contractual and stakeholder expectations.
  • Build strong relationships with local communities, services, and stakeholders.
  • Manage operational requirements, including rostering, compliance, and reporting.
  • Champion the rights, voices, and wellbeing of young people in the program.
About You

You're an experienced leader with a background in youth work, education, or allied fields, and you have:

  • Demonstrated experience working with young people in contact with the youth justice system, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative leadership style.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in behavioural sciences, education, or related discipline.
