Overview
The role of Associate Civil Engineer is a key position in the company's growth and development strategy. As a member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for managing and delivering complex engineering projects.
This includes planning, designing, and executing projects to meet client expectations. You will also be responsible for leading a team of engineers and designers within the civil discipline, providing technical guidance and support.
Additionally, you will gain an understanding of the business and strategic direction of the company and develop strong customer relationships. You will identify new opportunities for growth and development and build your business development skills.
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out and managing detailed designs for all types of projects and all aspects of projects ensuring that designs are innovative, prepared to a high standard and in accordance with the needs and expectations of clients.
- Managing and resolving project issues, considering construction costings and practices in the design process.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of engineers and designers within the civil discipline. Providing technical guidance, feedback, and support to team members, conducting performance reviews, training needs analysis, and career development plans.
- Gaining an understanding of the business and strategic direction of the company, developing, growing, and maintaining strong customer relationships. Identifying, communicating, and pursuing new opportunities for the company, building business development skills.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Chartered member (CPEng) of Institute of Engineers Australia
- 10+ years of demonstrated design experience
- Ability to think and solve problems and critically assess and review designs by others
- Experience in production of detailed engineering drawings commensurate with level of duties
- A knowledge of construction methods and their impact on design
- An understanding of design and commercial risk with good contract management experience
- Experience in liaising with project managers and architects effectively
- Strong communication skills and ability to maintain relationships at different levels within client organisations
- Business development skills
