Vulnerable Services Advocate

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals. As a Housing/Shelter Support Worker, you will play a critical role in providing support and services to residents and shelter users.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with all aspects of resident support plan development and delivery of services.
- Develop rapport and trusting relationships with residents.
- Perform wellness checks and participate in the set-up and clean up of shelter areas.
- Distribute harm reduction supplies and personal hygiene items to residents.
- Assist residents with activities such as room cleans and cleaning out vacant rooms.
- Provide individual counselling sessions using techniques such as active listening and conflict resolution.
- Maintain accurate records and statistics, and provide reports to supervisors as required.
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Training in non-violent crisis intervention techniques and harm reduction approach.
- Knowledge of community resources and ability to work collaboratively with residents and community contacts.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and coworkers both verbally and in writing.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Diploma in a related human/social service field.
- A minimum of one year recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
