Job Title: Disability Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our Residential Care team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with disabilities to develop life skills, form healthy attachments, and achieve their independence goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain a positive and caring environment that promotes the well-being and safety of our residents.
  • Form and maintain professional relationships with children and young people, their families, and other stakeholders.
  • Implement Behavior Support Plans and Individual Crisis Management Plans to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.
  • Provide trauma-informed care and support to children and young people with complex needs.
  • Ensure all essential needs are met, including providing a balanced diet, promoting hygiene, and supporting school engagement.
  • Mentor and coach children and young people to help them achieve their goals and develop life skills.
  • Act as a positive adult role model and engage children and young people in purposeful activities that promote their self-worth and independence.
  • Assist and support children and young people to develop connections and build their capacity to be part of their community.
Requirements:
  • A strong alignment with our values and mission.
  • Completed, or working towards, a minimum Certificate IV qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Youth Work, Social Work, Social Science, Counselling).
  • Experience in working with individuals with complex needs and behaviors of concern is highly regarded.
  • A positive, 'can do' attitude and flexibility in your work schedule.
  • Availability to work at least 4 days a week.
  • Availability to do shifts between 6am - 10pm and sleep-overs.
  • Availability to work at least 20 hours each week.
  • Excellent literacy skills for writing case notes and comfort navigating IT systems.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality, self-organization, and attention to detail.
