Job Description

Susanne Nelson and Associates (SNAA) is an outreach Occupational Therapy Service for children aged 0-16, aiming to provide therapy services in family homes, kindergartens or schools. Our service utilizes a Family Centred Practice framework, incorporating cognitive behavioural/affective training, anxiety management, social skills and sensory modulation when working with children and their families.

The team consists of occupational therapists and allied health assistants providing therapy services for over 160 families in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Together with the support of directors, assistant directors, and accounts managers, we aim to deliver high-quality services for our staff, families, and neurodiverse children. Our service prides itself on efficiency, professionalism, Medicare, NDIS, and Autism knowledge at all times.

  • Casual hours: 8 hours across 3 days (Monday to Friday) and 4 hours on Saturday.

Position Summary:

As an Allied Health Assistant, you will be passionate about supporting clients and families, delivering set occupational therapy tasks and activities prescribed by OT supervisors. You will also contribute to ongoing relationships with clients and affiliated professionals if required.

  • Deliver client-focused service, representing the company professionally in person, over the phone, and through email.
  • Invest in professional development through training, mentoring, feedback, and supervision to ensure duties are performed at a professional level.

Key responsibilities include following client home programs, responding promptly to client needs, maintaining relationships with families and colleagues, attending regular supervision meetings, documenting visits using company templates, completing time sheets, and ensuring staff qualifications are up-to-date.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Studying Bachelor or Master's of Occupational Therapy (or equivalent).
  • Desirable experience or interest in developmental paediatrics, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse clients, culturally sensitive, mentally healthy, autistic, or other backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in office software, especially Excel and Word, to document client progress and collaborate with colleagues.
