About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Community Support Professional to join our specialist family violence organisation based in Melbourne. The role is a vital part of our team, providing holistic and culturally sensitive support services to eligible Aboriginal women.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally appropriate support, case planning, and advocacy for Aboriginal women.
  • Work collaboratively with the AHU team on case and support plan development.
  • Assist in coordination and assertive engagement activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely data recording in client record management systems.
  • Identify and make appropriate referrals to other service providers.
  • Liaise with Corrections Victoria staff during the pre and post-release client journey.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Possession of relevant vocational qualification (Certificate in Community Services or Diploma) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal culture, history, and self-determination applied in a contemporary context.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively to identify and address service and client needs.
  • Proficient in building and maintaining professional relationships with individuals who have experienced incarceration.
  • Current Working with Children's Check.
  • Current Victorian Police Check.
  • Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination for workers.
  • Commitment to inclusivity and protection of children's rights.
