About the role
Aboriginal Health Practitioner may perform a broad range of tasks including.
Duties
- Explain procedures and treatment to clients to gain cooperation and understanding, and allow clients to make informed decisions about their health management.
- Contribute to the effective management of patient care plan systems, including participating in patient care conferences, managing patient follow-up procedure.
- Identify care needs and document patient consultation in patient's medical file.
- Assist Doctors and other health professionals with communication, treatment and any advice relevant to a client's treatment.
- Assist in the provision of high quality emergency care that at times is independent but with support from other health professionals.

**Skills and Experiences**:
COVID - 19 Requirements
- Immunisation history showing evidence of up-to-date COVID vaccinations.
**Essential**:
Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Clinical Practice) or higher.
Previous demonstrable experience in relevant Aboriginal Health Worker field.
Demonstrated ability to meet targets and performance outcomes.
Ability to support a continuous improvement model for achieving outcomes.
Decisive listening, influencing and persuasive skills.
Medicare Provider Number as a Aboriginal health Practitioner (non-restricted).
Full un-restricted AHPRA Registration.
Working with Children's Card (Blue Card) or be eligible to apply
**Desirable, but not mandatory**:
Minimum two (2) years experience in a Primary Health setting.
Previous experience of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
Previous experience in a multidisciplinary health team.
Previous experience in chronic disease management.
