This position is part of our commitment to addressing the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in the criminal justice system.

We are seeking a culturally competent and community-focused professional to join our Navigation and Triage Program at the Magistrates' Court of Victoria. In this role, you will provide frontline support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander court users, offering culturally safe, non-legal advice and referrals.

Your key responsibilities will include working collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations, and stakeholders to build referral pathways and promote best practice service delivery.

  • A deep understanding of Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, cultures, and the issues impacting them.
  • Proven ability to work and communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants and stakeholders.
  • Experience in client engagement, risk assessment, crisis management, safety planning, and case management using evidence-based approaches.

To succeed in this role, you will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong understanding of the complexities surrounding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities.
