About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Urban Planning and Development Specialist to join our team at Ballina Shire Council.

This role is responsible for assessing and processing development applications, providing regulatory advice, and delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of NSW Planning regulations and experience in handling inquiries and providing quality customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing a wide range of development applications in line with statutory and policy requirements
  • Providing professional guidance to applicants and the public on planning and regulatory matters
  • Managing inquiries related to application submissions and regulatory processes
  • Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with approved development conditions
  • Preparing and presenting reports and written correspondence for both internal and public audiences
  • Collaborating with senior planners and contributing to ongoing policy development
  • Maintaining accurate records and adhering to the Council's standards for safety and environmental management

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor degree or diploma in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Design, Arts or a related field from a recognised institution. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in development assessment or statutory planning is essential, with a preference for candidates with local government experience.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is between $81,800 - $93,900 per annum, plus 11.5% Superannuation.
