Staff Specialist - Dementia Care

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Specialist to provide tertiary level consultative services to NSW public inpatient services caring for people experiencing extreme behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering team-based clinical liaison services across Local Health District Regions, contributing to service development and planning, and participating in statewide initiatives to improve care outcomes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expert consultative services to NSW public inpatient services caring for people with BPSD.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver team-based clinical liaison services within inpatient settings.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of statewide strategies to improve care outcomes for people with BPSD.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for service improvement and develop solutions to address these gaps.
Requirements
  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
  • Certificate in Old Age Psychiatry and sound clinical knowledge in Old Age Psychiatry.
  • Experience providing clinical consultation/liaison to services caring for people with BPSD.
