A key initiative under this umbrella is Parent Pathways, a voluntary government program designed to support parents/carers with children under six who wish to take part in a pre-employment service.

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Parent/Carer Mentor to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis (3 full days or 5 days school hours) in one of the locations below:

Cabramatta

Fairfield

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized mentorship to parents, offering support and guidance on various parenting challenges.
  • Assist parents/carers to overcome barriers and empower them with the skills to achieve their individual employment and/or educational goals.
  • Facilitate workshops and group sessions on topics relevant to parent challenges.
  • Develop and implement engaging educational materials and resources.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment for parents to share experiences and learn from one another.
  • Collaborate with community organisations and resources to enhance program offerings.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, providing feedback for continuous improvement.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Possess personal lived experience in parenting or family support, along with relevant professional experience (Employment service experience highly regarded).
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse families.
  • Show empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others, particularly parents.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have familiarity with community resources and support systems (a plus).
  • Able to meet targets while maintaining high standards of customer service.
  • Understand and respect diverse backgrounds and perspectives, promoting inclusivity.
  • Exhibit precision in documentation and case management to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Proficient in Technology.
  • Hold either a Certificate III or above in a related course in Society and Culture, Health, or Education; or Tertiary level qualifications related to education, training, social services, counselling, case management, psychology, community services, careers guidance.
  • Currently hold or willing to obtain a Working with Children Check.
  • Able to speak an additional language (either Arabic or Vietnamese) – highly desirable.
