The Role:
As a Dementia Consultant, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals living with dementia as they transition from hospital settings back to their homes or into residential care.
This is an opportunity for professional growth and exposure to a new project, making it an ideal fit for those seeking career advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply assessment and biopsychosocial approaches to prevent, minimise or respond to changes in behaviour related to dementia.
- Develop practical, innovative and non-pharmacological strategies to support individuals living with dementia.
- Support families, caregivers and clinical staff to understand how dementia impacts each individual.
- Equip carers and clinicians to prevent and respond to behaviour changes through modelling, coaching, and development of resources.
- Develop reports that are contextualised to individual situations and people, effecting change on the ground and improving quality of life for individuals living with dementia.
Requirements:
- Expertise in supporting people living with dementia.
- Experience in Australian residential aged care and or community aged care.
- High level of negotiation, communication and relationship building skills.
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- A current Australian drivers licence and willingness to travel.
- Relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care or Mental Health is essential.
