Overview

Fuse Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager to join a National leader in steel material distribution. With a strong presence in the industry, this company specialises in Steel material distribution both locally and interstate.

About the Role

This permanent Monday to Friday role offers a competitive salary of $130k - $140k + super (dependent on experience) and an Erskine Park location. The successful candidate will oversee 20+ staff across day and afternoon shift operations while being supported by shift supervisors on both shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee Daily Operations
    • Manage day-to-day operations of the facility and lead a team of 20+ staff across two shift patterns.
  • Mentor and Lead Team
    • Mentor coach, retain and motivate the operations team, growing the team and uplifting their capability as our business and service offering expands.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Lead the team in areas of Safety and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and SOPs.
  • Financial Management
    • Manage cost productivity, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Supply Chain and Logistics
    • Oversee transport and distribution to ensure timely delivery and efficient logistics management.
    • Manage procurement processes to maintain optimal inventory levels and supplier relationships.
  • Customer Focus
    • Ensure customer needs are met through efficient processes, addressing issues and working closely with customer service to resolve problems effectively.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities for operational improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and safety.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or manufacturing or relevant experience in a manufacturing or production management environment.
  • 5+ years of Operations Management experience in the Steel Manufacturing industry.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of Shear, Slit, and Roll forming machinery.
  • Proven ability to continuously improve business processes.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and resilience.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen.
