Job Title:

Science Technician

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaising with science and agricultural science teachers regarding practical work needs, providing class sets of equipment and materials at various locations, and supporting incursions and excursions.
  • Assisting staff, including demonstrating the safe use and care of equipment and laboratory techniques to students.
  • Preparing chemical solutions (e.g., acids, stains) of known concentrations from bulk supplies.
  • Maintaining teaching resources and ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and good order of all equipment, laboratories, storage, and preparation rooms.
  • Assisting with the preparation of Curriculum Activity Risk Assessment documents, risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety requirements, especially concerning chemicals.
  • Attending and assisting with events such as Science Week and subject displays.
  • Communicating effectively and positively in both written and verbal forms to ensure productive interactions with students and staff.
