The Assistant Superintendent plays a pivotal role in our construction team, overseeing daily project site activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and direct activities for the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems ensuring successful project completion.
- Consult with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction issues.
- Attend and participate in Safety Training Programs to enforce safety procedures.
- Verify subcontractor certificates of insurance and ensure compliance.
- Develop and maintain CPM job schedules, ensuring timely project completion.
- Build confidence with Owners and Architects through effective communication.
- Recruit, train, direct, and coordinate field construction teams, including subcontractor direct hire work.
- Ensure work quality by setting standards for quality control.
- Manage material ordering and supply allotments to avoid 'crisis' situations.
- Prepare and submit reports (e.g. time sheets, work orders, daily reports, invoice approval).
- Document and complete punch lists in a timely manner.
- Review drawings, specifications, and subcontractor submittals to ensure project accuracy.
- Conduct pre-job conferences and regular subcontractor meetings to ensure project success.
- Perform start-up testing, turnover, and document final close-out and Owner's acceptance.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or equivalent experience (2-4 years as General Foreman).
- Extensive field construction experience at supervisory level.
- Current Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) Certification, or achievement of STS Certification within six months of hire, maintenance of active certification status.
- Working knowledge of all crafts (ability to read and understand specifications for all trades), and foreman or journeyman in at least one trade, or project engineer.
- Knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in job scheduling, planning, expediting, and cost control.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
