About the Role

Western Health is seeking passionate midwives to join our team at Joan Kirner Women's & Children's. Our current vacancies include both part-time and full-time opportunities.

Midwives in this role will provide continuity of care from a 'known' midwife, in an on-call capacity, during pregnancy, labour and birth, and during the early parenting period to birthing women/people and their families.

We offer a range of birthing options including hospital birth, waterbirth and homebirth. We prioritise care for those who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, may be young, planning a vaginal birth after caesarean, motivated for a physiological birth, living with a disability, seeking refuge, have a history of trauma or perinatal loss or experiencing social or mental health concerns.

What You Need to Know
  • Completion of Bachelor of Midwifery qualification or equivalent
  • Current registration as Registered Midwife with AHPRA
  • Full drivers licence
  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural safety and the issues affecting the health outcomes of First Nations women and families
  • Possess excellent evidence-based clinical skills
  • Effective time management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
