Therapeutic Specialist for Complex Student Support

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Therapeutic Specialist to join our Behaviour and Specialist Programs Team. As a key member of our team, you will deliver high-level therapeutic case management, consultation, and support services to students with complex and challenging behaviours.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years' experience as a registered Psychologist or Social Worker and demonstrate a strong understanding of mental health needs in children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) model
  • Manage a caseload of varying degrees of complexity
  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals to enhance student support
  • Support leaders and staff to respond effectively to student risk
  • Collaborate with schools and other professionals to develop tier 3 behaviour plans
  • Consult and work with schools to conduct risk assessments and construct risk management plans

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate alignment to the core purpose and values of Catholic Education along with:

  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience as a registered Psychologist or Social Worker
  • Demonstrated understanding of mental health needs in children and young people
  • Experience in complex case management and counselling families, children, and young people using evidence-based interventions
  • Ability to engage students, parents, and teachers in the counselling process
  • Capacity to facilitate parent and care-giver education
  • Supportive of our Catholic ethos

Qualifications and Accreditations:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Eligible for membership with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or general registration as a psychologist with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation - Working with Children Check clearance
