Job Role Overview

The Team Leader position is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of young people in out-of-home care. Our organization operates a therapeutic, acreage-based model of care that provides a supportive and nurturing environment for these young individuals.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering care services to our young people in a home environment through the provision and management of a team of Youth Workers/Team Members. Your primary focus will be on supporting young people with challenging behaviors to achieve their social, educational, cultural, and emotional goals.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing support plans that cater to the unique needs of each young person, including positive behavior plans and progress reports;
  • Assessing and promoting the development of our young people;
  • Liaising and reporting to stakeholders to provide information and assist with plans;
  • Developing activity plans for each young person and supporting community engagement;
  • Safely managing behaviors using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques;
  • Ensuring allocation and maintenance of rosters for Team Members, completion of timesheets;
  • Managing and being responsible for all resources associated with the placement;
  • Facilitating team meetings and Team Member supervisions, including delegation and performance management;
  • Leading and mentoring Team Members to support their professional development and promotion;
  • Reporting to the Board as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • An open and current Australian Drivers Licence;
  • Significant experience working directly with children and their families in a support capacity;
  • Experience working with children who have complex and challenging needs and behaviors;
  • Able to prioritize and work under pressure to meet specific timeframes and targets;
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supporting a team in a management role;
  • Ability and flexibility to meet the needs of our organization;
  • Obtained minimum Diploma in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or equivalent OR obtained minimum Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or equivalent PLUS Cert IV in a leadership qualification;
  • Approved Licensed Care Service (LSC) check through the department, or willingness to obtain;
  • Current Blue Card;
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates, or willingness to obtain;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including documentation, organizational, and reporting.
